My Traveling: Recalling Chitlang
Journey ends only when life takes rest. From the birth to the death, man always travels in his life. During this travel he goes up and goes down too. He struggles many of the times to catch what he wants. If a man enjoys traveling he does not need to look back. The best way to live the life is to enjoy what you are doing. Traveling is not finding beautiful moments but finding the beauty within it. The integral part of the traveling is adventure. Many of times I have played with it.
When you enjoy traveling, you will forget all the pain you have. Let me share one of the glimpses of my traveling that happened ten years back when we passed our basic science barrier in MBBS life. Traveling on foot from the Kathmandu valley to Daaman and Simbhanjyang crossing the Chandragiri hill was really wonderful flashback.
It’s just started mobile prepaid service in Kahtmandu, some of us had mobile service. It’s really expensive. I was taking rest in relative’s apartment utilizing Nepal bandh. I got a call from my friend going hiking Chandragiri and reaching Chitlang. Chitlang is a historical place through which the then King Prithvinarayan attacked Kritipur. I readily accepted the friend’s proposal. Next day, they moved from Maharajgunj and I started my journey from Kritipur and met in Balambu. We started our hiking and ascending via Matatirth. We went to Matatirth mandir and Dhungedhara; sipped some water and walked towards the shoulder of Chadragiri. It was there spreading his arms on his both sides. While ascending we felt as if it was inviting us to put us on his shoulders. After few hours, we reached Deurali where some bhattis were there. We took tea there. We wandered there for some time watching ropeway that was established by the then premiere Chandra Shamsher to transport goods from Hetauda to Kathmandu valley.
We moved towards the head of Chandragiri where lots of bushes and trees were there emerging like hairs from head. The sun was setting in the west. It was red and glowing signaling twilight.
Reaching Chitlang in the twilight, getting no shelter from anyone was a horrible experience during that Maoist insurgency period. But there is god to help you when no one is there to support you. One old couple was ready to give us the shelter. When they went to store they did find nothing to serve us. We purchased some noodles to boil. We were served with noodles. It was so yummy, probably we were so hungry to eat we finished in no time. Next day we walked for Markhu giving some money to them.
