Mahashivaratri, the night of Lord Shiva

The Mahashivaratri, 'The night of lord Shiva' has been observed on 13 th day of new moon in Falgun month every year all over the world especially in South East Asia. Though there are so many legends why we celebrate this night, some of them are 'the day when Lord Shiva created by himself', 'the day   Devi Parbati did Pooja of Lord Shiva for the benefits of mankind', ' worshiping Lord Shiva on this night by a hunter unknowingly with Bel leaves and dewdrops'. The hunter was blessed by Lord Shiva that day. Whatever could be the reason behind celebrating the Mahashivaratri, the devotees worship Lord Shiva with great reverence in this night.
