Chari bharara…Dandaima basera…!!!

Those days in medical school, I always miss, especially the moments with you. All those functions had been shared with you in one or other way. I heard from you why girls apply oils before they get bath. You let me know the reason behind your silky hair during parties.  You also mentioned the Girls lining for mirror to see their beauty after make up for the party. Well, we had some kind of different attachment; let me say a divine attachment. Though I was technically weaker than you, you always seek my technical help. I also tried to help you. It was quite unusual ni hai someone helping to someone who is technically superior. I think I was assisting her instead.

We never tried to break our platonic relation- that is our strength I say but some may perceive as a weakness. What’s your say, friend?! We always valued our status. We were in close communication. Those SMS days I can remember.  You even used to message me and call me via your dad’s mobile when your mobile’s balance run out -that’s really scary and crazy I supposed. Your funny SMS I always miss hehehe. Sometimes we used to do flirting, you remember! That’s interesting though. On and off, we went for jaunt. You used to accept easily when I used to ask you for.

We moved our body and shook our hip in many tracks on the dance floor but I always remember the chari bharara…number. What an excitement it used to come on your face and I used to follow you. We loved this number and I think we had internalized the meaning of this song. Your smile used to beautify your flushing soft cheeks that used to catch my eyes. When dandaimaa basera rumki dharara… line used to come, you used to cover your eyes and pretended as if you were crying and I used to wonder in the colorful surrounding and the flashes of light in the wriggling crowd of people whether you actually were crying but I could see the same beautiful face in your smiley look instead.

After graduation, I flew somewhere and you did somewhere. Thereafter we hardly met each other. Probably, we had the wings; the independent wings to fly over to catch our own destiny.

Up in the Air: Escaping Death Trap

We walk both with happiness and sorrow but the sense is different. Our mind is low with sorrow and high with happiness. Getting happiness is normal but getting life from near death is eternal pleasure. These eternal pleasures are rare since nature hardly gives us such chances. Among such rare chances, one happened to my life also.

I was excited to fly in the plane ‘coz it was my first time in my life. We took off from Kathmandu and directed towards Bhairahawa. It was my best friend’s wedding and our destination was the sacred place of Hindu, Banaras. Almost 19 people were there along with groom. I was peeping through the window to see the land below. The Valley appeared slowly distant from our plane. We left valley after crossing the Chandragiri hill that is situated at south-west of Kathmandu valley.

All the difficult terrain along with beautiful green Terai, my eyes were enjoying and playing hide and seek with. I wish I had caught those beautiful views in the camera but I did not have. It was my country Nepal, my beautiful country full of diversity of localities, cultures, weathers, ethnicities, religions, flora and fauna. Different people with different ethnicity, culture and religion have been living peacefully with great joy for hundreds of generations in this small country within 180 km across from plain Terai to the soaring heights of Himalayas.

I was almost lost in my pride my country till plane drops down for a while. Everybody was screaming and they were panic. Almost everybody was dropping tears down their face. I could see the fear in the eyes of air-hostess as well. She was not able to convince the passengers. As far my concern, I was just able to hide the fear. After some time, plane took its pace and flew ahead. After few minutes we were trapped in the strong force of wind and the plane was trembling. Such trembling happened again and again.Though pilot wanted to go back Kathmandu, he could not since the fuel was not enough for Kathmandu. It abruptly walloped my mind, ‘life is just till this time only.’ and remembered my parents, brothers, relatives and friends. Probably I cried within myself. I was on the way where I would not have come back from. Everybody was praying their god for safe landing.
Finally, we were jarred out of the blue. It was already Bhairahawa airport we had landed. We thanked god and thanked the pilot for safe landing. I jumped from plane. 'Hurray…!!! We've got the second life.'

Boarding Bajura

When I was assigned for Bajura District for Measles-Rubella (MR) campaign I was excited to visit this district because it was my great opportunity to visit Bajura officially otherwise I may not be able to visit this place personally. After completing some administrative procedures I set out for Bajura District. Driving down to Kohalpur, moving through Bardiya and crossing the Karnali Bridge, we stopped by in Chisapani where we took lunch with fish curry in an eatery. Thereafter we moved towards Dhangadi where we entered the field office of WHO-IPD and talked about technical activity about MR campaign in Far western development region. FWDR consists of 9 districts and one of them is Bajura, a rural district in FWDR where vehicle is yet to reach there. Motor road is on the way of construction.
Martadi Bazar, the HQ of Bajura

At 14:00 hour we headed for Dadeldhura where we planned for night stay. While moving towards Dadeldhura, we felt as if we were heading towards Surkhet from Kohalpur- similar terrain, similar jungle, similar set up and similar road. After 2 hours we were already in a segment of Doti District. We saw small pile of the snow at the side of road. We took some snaps with sudur paschim's (Far west) snow. It was sweet cold feeling while touching that snow mass. This was my snow, my motherland's snow. Though I have played a lot with New York's snow it did not impress me 'coz it was not mine.

Crossing Budar(a hangout place) in Doti, we moved ahead towards Dadeldhura. When we reached there, we got chance to visit Ugratara Devi temple. Its premise is fascinating and it looks beautiful when we see its area from the road before we reach there. While we were moving towards this temple, it was red glowing in sunset. This temple is highly potential for tourism. The night in Dadeldhura was so cold that I needed some liquid blankets. Though its terrain is not so good but most expensive land we can find here in the country. That's quite unexpected at least to me.

Next day, we moved towards Bajura via Syaulibazar of Dadeldhura. The serpentine road was moving towards Doti paralleled to Seti River. We halted for few hours in Doti DHO to drop one of our colleagues there. We drove towards Sanphebagar after taking lunch there. We halted there in Sanphebagar and wandered for some time there crossing Budhiganga. I met one of our colleagues there who was assigned for Achham District.
Malika hill in Bajura

Early in the morning next day, we moved towards Bajura parallel to Budhiganga, sometimes going closer and sometimes getting away from it. Many of the times, the Malika hill caught my eyes. It was full of snow like big old lady sprawling her hairs on the top of hill. The road has been on construction and same for bridges also. When we reached Phalasain, we halted there to have tea. When I tried to chat with the son of pasalni sahuni (lady owner of a micro motel), he was so shy that he buried his flushed face with his hands. 'Don’t be shy like lady,' her mother said to him. I mumbled, 'He's yet to have androgen.'

On the way, the EPI supervisor for DHO Bajura hitched a lift in our vehicle. Discussing about upcoming MR campaign, human resources and their attitude, we reached Rapka after crossing Budhiganga. We halted there for tea and moved ahead. Since my driver feel that it was not possible to move ahead, we took the help of 11 numbered vehicle from there. After walking half an hour straight, we ascended the half an hour steep road, we took rest in the middle of that steep road. While taking rest, a small boy stole the limelight.
The boy with his cattle
He was trying to send his cattle into the cowshed but he had not been able to do that. It just came into my mind whether he goes to school or not but I could not ask him about it. Leaving him there we moved up slowly. When we reached Martadi, I took a long breath, 'Martadi, I caught you finally.'
